Reena Kallat, Woven Chronicle, 2015

Woven Chronicle is an artwork that resembles the world map, made of woven wires, and depicting the traces and flow of migration and labor. It is a powerful installation that visually overwhelms viewers with its scale and vivid colors. The world connected with fine lines like a dense net is a synesthetic expression of the diverse tensions and social implications caused by migration and borders, and the speakers on the map send out sounds recorded in the respective areas. The artist, Reena Kallat, has been dedicated to studying the history of migrations, the plunder of common resources in the name of national interest, and the record of people who do not belong anywhere.
