Dongju Kang, Stepping lands and passing seas, 2022
Ports become historical footholds for those who migrate in search of their hopes and dreams and places where migrants come together as new neighbors. Stepping lands and passing seas, an artwork by Dongju Kang, traces the space and time of 44 ports on Jeju imprinted on carbon paper. The white spots where the carbon paper’s colors have faded way and the remaining black spots form a symmetry and form a continuing landscape of time, space, and movement.
